Sign In Questions

How do I create an account?

You can create an account by clicking here and then provide your email, username, password and select submit. If you would like to register to bid, there is a check box that will allow you to add your credit card and address in the next safe and secure step.

How do I sign in if I already created an account?

You can sign in using either an email address and password or through Google, Facebook, or Apple. Simply click the “Sign In” button at the top right of your screen to either create an account or to log in.

Why do you need my email address?

Your email address is where you’ll receive saved search notifications and communication from our team about your auctions or bids. It is also the address that is shared with the other party when you win an auction or sell your car. Note that if you sign in with Google, Facebook, or Apple, your email must be the same as the one you use for your 427Stringray account. Apple users may need to manage the settings of their Apple ID in order to share their email with 427Stringray.

If you created your account with an email address and password, you will see a “Lost Password” link under the “Log In” button on login page. Click the link and follow the instructions to reset your password.

Can you help me if I am having trouble logging in?

Absolutely! We’re here to help. Contact us at auctions@427Stingray.com.

Buyer Questions

Many of your questions are answered in the “How does it work” section of the website. We provide some additional information here.

What are the fees for the buyer on 427Stingray?

In addition to the final purchase price paid to the seller, buyers pay a 5% buyer’s fee to 427Stingray. The buyer’s fee is no less than $250 and no more $7,500.

Do I have to register to bid right away?

If you don’t want to register just yet, no problem. Once you find a car you want to bid on, click “CLICK HERE TO BECOME A BIDDER” on the car’s listing page, and you’ll be prompted to register as a bidder. You will have to enter your credit information because we place a hold on each bidder’s credit card until the conclusion of the auction.

What else should I know about bidding?

Here are some key things to keep in mind:

  • Your bid must, of course, be higher than the current bid.
  • Bid increments are displayed in bidding window.
  • Once you have submitted a bid, we place a hold on your credit card for 5% of your bid amount to cover the buyer’s fee in the event you are the winner.
  • All bids must be in United States Dollars (USD)—including on vehicles located in Canada.
  • There is no proxy bidding.

Can I bid if I live outside of the United States or Canada?

Yes, you can! However, you will need to pay in full for the vehicle promptly following the close of the auction, just like all other buyers. Any logistics, import fees, transportation, legal dues, and/or other items needed to export/import the vehicle are entirely the buyer’s responsibility. Ensure you have everything fully in place prior to bidding. The close of the auction is not the time to begin researching transportation logistics and import regulations.

What should I know about reserve prices?

Great question! Keep the following in mind:

  • A seller can set a reserve price that prevents the car from being sold for a price lower than the seller is expecting. Reserve prices are not published.
  • If a seller has chosen not to set a reserve price, a “no reserve” notice will appear at the start of the description.
  • Buyers should not ask sellers to reveal reserve prices during the auction—but the reserve price will be revealed when an auction ends.
  • If the high bidder on a car hasn’t met the reserve price, we will work with the seller and buyer to try to determine a mutually agreeable price. If we are successful, we will connect the buyer and seller.

What are the rules for comments?

All comments should focus on the vehicle being sold. Examples of inappropriate use of the comments include (but are not limited to):

  • Foul language
  • Personal attacks
  • Spamming
  • Sharing your personal contact information
  • Asking the seller about the reserve price
  • Calling out the price you think the vehicle will sell for
  • Inappropriate images or descriptions in your profile
  • Promoting your personal business, website, social media handles, etc.
  • Discussing other vehicles or topics unrelated to the vehicle being offered
  • Linking to inappropriate content of any kind
  • Linking to other “vehicle for sale” ads

All comments on 427Stingray are moderated in order to foster a positive community experience for all Corvette enthusiasts.

Seller Questions

Many of your questions are answered in the “How does it work” section of the website. We provide some additional information here.

How much does it cost to sell a car on 427Stringray?

Sellers list for free and only pay $99 when their car sells.

Can I sell a vehicle if I live outside of the United State or Canada?

At this time, all sellers must be located in the United States or Canada. We do not offer vehicles for sale in Puerto Rico at this time.

What should I know about the sales process?

Here are some things to keep in mind:

  • To get started, click “Sell a Vette” in the header menu of our website. Follow the instructions to submit your car for review. If we accept your Corvette for auction, we will follow up with more detailed questions.
  • Pictures and video can make a huge difference! Consider hiring a professional photographer or videographer to ensure your vehicle is shown off in the best possible way.
  • We will write the description of your car and then send it to you for approval. That way, all listings on the site are similar in tone and style. You can request edits and we will do our best to accommodate you.
  • We will work with you to set the schedule for your auction. All auctions last for seven days.
  • We strongly suggest you engage with potential buyers in the comments section. It is particularly important to answer questions. Keep the conversation upbeat and professional.

Can I make a deal with a buyer outside of the auction?

No. Corvettes for sale on 427Stingray must be exclusively available through the auction. Sellers or buyers who attempt to work around the auction will be permanently banned from the site.

What should I know about reserve prices?

Great question! Keep the following in mind:

  • A seller can set a reserve price that prevents the car from being sold for a price lower than the seller is expecting. Reserve prices are not published.
  • If a seller has chosen not to set a reserve price, a “no reserve” notice will appear near the bidding box.

What if the winning bidder doesn’t follow through with the purchase?

Fortunately, this situation is extremely rare. If it occurs, however, the winning bidder forfeits their buyer’s fee and they are permanently banned from 427Stingray.

We will immediately work with the next-highest bidder(s) in an effort to sell your vehicle at an mutually agreeable price.

How long are past auctions available for review?

All auctions on 427Stingray are perpetually available for everyone to see regardless of their outcome. Transparency is an essential part of building trust within the Corvette enthusiast community.
