Preview: Up for auction is a remarkable piece of automotive history – a rotisserie restored 1955 Chevrolet Nomad, build number seven, potentially the oldest Nomad in existence. This early production model underwent a 13-year full rotisserie restoration, sparing no expense, and only has been driven one mile since. Finished in Indian Ivory and Turquoise, this Nomad features the rare two-tone paint scheme with Turquoise on the top and Ivory on the bottom, capturing the essence of post-war American design. The Chevrolet Nomad was introduced as part of the Chevrolet Bel Air series, designed to merge the utility of a station wagon with the aesthetics and style of a sports car. It was a revelation in automotive design, and it is regarded as one of the most iconic models in Chevrolet’s history. The first 150 Nomads were built by hand to give to dealer showcase on the showroom floors.

Exterior: This Nomad is finished in Indian Ivory and Turquoise, a very rare two-tone paint. With all-original body panels, floors, and factory seam sealer, this car maintains its authenticity. The restoration, completed in 2023, included over $28k spent in chrome alone, ensuring that every exterior component shines like new. Originally purchased in Oakland, CA, it has rare one-piece California front bumpers, optional grill guard, and California extensions that flow seamlessly with the body, adding to its unique appeal. This Nomad features a rare knuckle-buster tailgate handle, super rare chrome brass lift gate, U chrome reveal molding, no drip-hole in stainless trim, accessory guards, rocker molding gravel shields and EZI glass.

Interior: Step inside to experience the all original interior of this Nomad. Adorned in Teal, the interior features gobs of glistening chrome and fine metallic paint, reminiscent of the era’s luxury and style. The original stainless trim is in fantastic condition, with the dash SS boasting Boe Ties in new condition. With power windows, power seat, and an AM/Wonderbar radio, the interior offers both comfort and convenience.

Mechanical: Under the hood lies the legendary Turbo-Fire V8 engine, a 265 cubic inch powerhouse paired with a two-barrel carburetor and early “On Top” oil filter. The engine is mated to a Powerglide automatic transmission, providing smooth and effortless shifts. This Nomad comes loaded with factory options including power steering, power brakes with Treadle Vac Master cylinder and the Autronic Eye automatic headlight dimmer, making every drive a pleasure.
