The first full-scale Corvette concept was displayed as a “dream car” at GM's Motorama, New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel, January 1953. Stunning 65 2 Door Hard Top. The 1965 Sting Ray has subtle refinements in styling that enhanced its already fabulous unique looks. And performance is in this car, and all Corvettes, a GM priority. Exterior: Nassau Blue code FF. A smooth hood minus depressions & distractions in the contour. New louvers behind the front wheels that helped increase air flow through the engine compartment. The Sport Coupe has 35 fiberglass panels requiring precise placement and riveting to get the excellent body fit of this Corvette. Interior: Bk-L Black Interior: Real wood steering wheel. A true sports car in every sense, but w/ a completely luxurious driving environment. For 65 new trim of durable expanded Leather with a more subtle texture, individual bucket-type seats, “S-wire” spring construction, new bolster-like design for more seating comfort. Both seats are adjustable fore and aft through a range of four inches. New molded panels covering the back of the seats offer protection against scuffing. Molded Carpet for shape and a better fit, fewer seams present a cleaner look. Door panels are of a new molded construction; the armrest is integral with the panel and the door pull-handle is separate. Controls are on the central console along with the electrical clock and radio controls; vent controls are located under the instrument panel on each side of the steering column. Matched speedometer and tachometer are the primary instruments in the Sting Ray. Supplementing these are an electrical fuel gauge, electrical coolant temperature gauge, ammeter, and an oil pressure gauge. A re-settable trip odometer, head-light switch, cigarette lighter, head-lamp retractor switch, hood release, and four-position ignition switch complete the instrument panel. On the passenger side, a built-in passenger assist grip is part of the instrument panel hood.
