This 1968 AMC Javelin is a classic representation of American automotive engineering, featuring a powerful 390 V8 engine and factory 4-speed manual transmission. It holds a significant place in automotive history. The AMX was introduced to the public on 24 February 1968, five months after the Javelin and other 1968 AMC cars. The SST, which stood for Super Sports Touring, was the premium offering for the Javelin. In January 1968, two specially prepared AMC’s set 106 world speed and endurance records at Goodyear's track in Texas driven by world land speed record holder Craig Breedlove, his wife Lee, and Ron Dykes. Preview: Introducing the 1968 AMC Javelin, this classic car features a 390ci V8 engine, 4 Spd Manual transmission with headers and a 2-inch dual exhaust system, paired with a factory 4-speed manual transmission. It comes in a striking Turquoise exterior color and boasts a unique two-seat, short-wheelbase design. AMC known as American Motors Corporation, was an American automotive manufacturer. AMC was founded when Nash and Hudson merged in 1954 which became the largest corporate merger in United States history at the time. 

 

 

Exterior: The AMC Javelin is presented in a Tahiti Turquoise exterior color (born Blazer Blue), showcasing its vintage aesthetic. The design includes a long nose and short tail, characteristic of pony cars of the era, along with special handling hardware and wider wheels for enhanced performance.

 

 

Interior: Inside, the interior features green seats for comfort during driving. It is equipped with an “AutoMeter” Auto Gage Monster Tach with a shift light, adding to its sporty appeal. The interior looks great (with some imperfections) and black carpets are embellished with “Javelin” complete the vintage muscle vibes.

 

 

Mechanical: This power packed Javelin runs on a roaring 390ci V8 with Factory 4 Spd Manual transmission. The cars’ front suspension’s uses an upper trunnion pivot, special handling hardware, and wider wheels.  Underneath, the Javelin is supported by semi-elliptic rear leaf springs and front coil springs, along with extra-heavy-duty shock absorbers and a 0.88-inch diameter sway bar for stability. It is also equipped with power disc brakes for efficient stopping power. It has Chrome valve covers, open top, extra tall air cleaner for the Fresh Air Induction Hood, 4-barrel Carburetor and a 430 Rear End.
