Micheal Svoboda's View

This 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is a remarkable blend of classic style and modern performance. With its strong-running 400ci engine, distinctive hot-rod appearance, and well-preserved body and interior, this Corvette is a true piece of American automotive history. The option to revert to its original 4-speed manual setup adds to its appeal for purists. This beauty was built decades ago, but fortunately not cut up- even retains its generator.  It’s a strong Vette with factory VIN tag. (1962 Borg Warner T-10 Trans that needs rebuild is available if interested in returning to a 4-speed: $400 extra). Micheal Svoboda is the COO of Driveway Deals and has a love for corvettes since middle school when he seen a 63 Split Window going through restoration.

Preview: Presenting an old-school classic, this 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible embodies the hot-rod style with its powerful early 1970s Chevy 400ci V8 small block engine and distinctive Red and White exterior. With 112,000 miles on the odometer, this Corvette offers both vintage appeal and modern performance enhancements, making it a standout example of American automotive history. Built and maintained in excellent condition, this Corvette is ready for its next chapter on the open road.

Exterior: The exterior of this 1962 Chevrolet Corvette is finished in a striking Red with White coves, complemented by a black convertible top. The car sits on old-school Keystone Classic wheels, which add to its classic hot-rod appearance. The body is an original, no-hit fiberglass shell, retaining its factory lines and rust-free condition. The frame remains unaltered and super clean, highlighting the car’s well-preserved state. All lights, signals, and the horn are fully functional, ensuring the car is road-ready and safe for cruising.

Interior: Inside, the Corvette features a classic Black interior that pairs perfectly with the red and white exterior. The interior includes factory power windows, which are still in working order, and an old-school Hurst dual gate shifter, providing a nostalgic driving experience. The clutch and brake pedals remain in place, despite the car’s current automatic transmission setup, offering a nod to its original configuration. The interior’s overall condition reflects the car’s careful maintenance and preservation over the years.

Mechanical: Under the hood, this Corvette is powered by an early 1970s Chevy 400ci V8 small block engine, enhanced with LT1/Z28 double hump heads featuring the desirable “186” castings. A 780 CFM Holley dual-feed carburetor sits atop an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, providing strong and responsive performance. The engine is cooled by a Dewitts high-performance aluminum radiator and an electric fan, supplemented by an aftermarket 5-blade water pump fan. The transmission has been upgraded to a Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed automatic, replacing the original 4-speed manual. However, the original clutch and brake pedals remain, and a Borg Warner T-10 transmission is available if the new owner wishes to return the car to its original manual configuration. The Chevy 12-bolt posi-traction rear end with 3:73 gears ensures that power is efficiently transferred to the road. Old school HEI system with Accel Coil – gives it a hot spark, while the nice headers give it good breath.
