Micheal Svoboda's View

This is a great 1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray that is re-painted in #946 code Elkhart Green, powered by a great and tractable 350 cubic inch engine pulling more horsepower than when it was stock, shifted by a 4-speed shifter, and a #917 code Saddle vinyl interior with air conditioning. What more could you want? It is a very desirable Stingray that will only increase in value year after year. Micheal Svoboda is the COO of Driveway Deals and has a love for corvettes since middle school when he seen a 63 Split Window going through restoration.

Preview: It isn’t very often that collectors get a chance to bid on a restored Corvette with the correct paint #946 Elkhart Green and #417 trim codes, black vinyl hard top, and a the original matching engine with its VIN numbers on the engine stamp pad, but that is what we have here at 427Stingray.

Exterior: This 1972 comes re-painted in #946 Elkhart Green that it came from the factory and looks great from all angles with its long, sleek hood, great chrome and trim, shark-like front bumper, twin rear bumper, chrome rocker panels, window trim, and fender grilles. While there were virtually no appearance changes to the 1972 Corvette from 1971, the model year did mark the “end of an era” for the third-generation Corvette. It would be the last model year to feature both front and rear chrome bumpers, a bright egg-crate grill, side-fender grills (later models do have functional vents and some have vent trim), and a removable rear-window (this last had been a standard feature from 1968-1972.) This 1972 Corvette had as standard equipment a left-hand outside rearview mirror, all tinted glass, a flow-thru ventilation system, front and rear disc brakes, and electric clock and the entire car, body, engine, interior, chrome trim, and dual chrome exhaust tips looks great.

Interior: It has a twin front bucket seat interior in #417 Saddle that is in excellent condition with matching door panels, matching tan carpets, the chrome 4-speed shifter with a black shift knob in the factory console as well as the gauge package and radio, black factory steering wheel, dual pod speedometer/tachometer with a full gauge package, seatbelts, and the black vinyl hardtop that never goes out of style.

Mechanical: This 1972 Corvette Stingray has the standard 350ci V8 engine with its four-barrel carburetor and a four-speed manual transmission that looks and sounds as it did from the factory.

It is nicely detailed with correct Chevy Orange paint on the block, the original open-air cleaner with chrome lid, great looking plug wires and hoses, orange factory valve covers, cast intake, correct ignition shielding, Four Wheel Disc Brakes, air conditioning, and sitting in a period correct, painted, and detailed engine compartment. It is by far one of the most tractable Corvettes ever made and it idles smoothly as the dual exhausts emit a nice note and the gearing assures restful freeway cruising. It rides on Rally wheels and wears Redline sidewall tires and the fully-independent sports suspension rides and tracks well.

I might be missing something but there’s nothing mentioned about this Vette being a convertible. Reads hardtop coupe with a pass through window. Am I going crazy? Sure looks like a convertible.

    • 427Auctions

It is a convertible. We have reached out to seller, has a black soft top also but he has no pictures of that. Thank you for your interest.

Does the tach work? It appeared in the video, the tach never moved. So may as well ask, do all the gauges work? Thank you.

    • 427Auctions

Seller said that he has not had a chance to fix the tach so currently not working, he stated all other gauges work. Thanks for your interest.
